Educator

After a career in marketing, I realized that I wanted something more: a way to truly make a difference. In 2012, I took a leap and became a teacher — and it’s been one of the most rewarding decisions of my life. I started in the classroom in a Title I school in my hometown of Philadelphia teaching first and second grade and discovered my passion for helping young learners build strong foundations in reading and writing. Watching their confidence and skills grow was inspiring and reaffirmed my decision to pursue elementary education.

That passion led me to a new role as a K-5 early literacy coach. I had the privilege of working with students, administrators, and teachers to improve literacy instruction, close achievement gaps, and shape a love of reading across entire classrooms with the School District of Philadelphia.

Eventually, I transitioned into my current role as a K-6 ESL teacher, where I work with students from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Helping multilingual learners find their voice and thrive academically has been deeply fulfilling.

Every step of my journey from marketing to the classroom has taught me the value of connecting with others and making an impact. Teaching is more than a career for me; it’s a calling, and I’m proud to wake up every day knowing I’m helping students achieve their potential.

Martial Artist

My journey in martial arts began as a very young boy who loved the movie The Karate Kid. At the age of 12, I began my training in Tang Soo Do at a studio in South Philadelphia. Little did I know that it would become a lifelong passion that would shape who I am today. After years of hard work and consistent training, I earned my first degree black belt in 1996 and began assistant instructing.

Over the years, I’ve had the honor of competing in regional, national, and world championships earning medals and even a senior black belt division regional grand championship. Each competition was an opportunity to push myself further while connecting with other martial artists. In 2011, I had a unique opportunity to visit and train in Seoul, South Korea.

In 2022, I achieved a major milestone when I was promoted to 4th degree black belt in Tang Soo Do. Additionally, I’ve expanded my martial arts journey by earning a 2nd degree black belt in Sin Moo Hapkido, deepening my understanding of martial arts and its principles.

Today, I continue to teach and inspire students of all ages sharing the lessons and values I’ve learned from the martial arts—discipline, resilience, and the joy of lifelong learning. Whether I’m helping a beginner find their footing or mentoring an advanced student to prepare for their next level, I feel grateful to be part of their journey. For me, martial arts is more than learning physical techniques —it’s a way of life.

Children’s Book Author & Illustrator

In 2023, I achieved another one of my life-long dreams: I wrote and illustrated my first children’s book, Angelo’s Garden, a story to honor the memory of the most influential male role model in my life who raised me like his own son: my grandfather, Angelo Pinto.

This heartfelt story follows a young boy (me) and his grandfather Angelo whose garden—centered around a special fig tree—carries memories and life lessons across generations. Angelo’s Garden invites readers to reflect on family connections, heritage, and the beauty of growing something that lasts.

This book is perfect for children ages 5-10, parents, and educators looking for a story that inspires kindness, gratitude, and the appreciation of life’s simple gifts.
